Role Description
The Chief Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Cardiff, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations for the group’s UK entities and coordinating with finance teams in the UAE.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- Supervising the general ledger
- Managing month-end and year-end closing processes
- Preparing accurate financial statements and management reports
The role involves:
- Monitoring cash flow
- Reconciling accounts
- Reviewing journal entries
- Ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax regulations
The Chief Accountant will design and maintain internal controls, support audits, and implement best practices to improve financial processes and systems. This position also partners with senior leadership to provide financial insights, support budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to strategic decision-making across the investment portfolio.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
- Strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including experience with general ledger management, month-end closing, and preparation of statutory and management accounts.
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide clear recommendations to leadership.
- Knowledge of tax, audit, and regulatory compliance, including familiarity with relevant UK accounting standards and experience liaising with external auditors.
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP software, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to improve systems, workflows, and internal controls.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including experience supervising accounting teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail, and strong organizational abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional requirements:
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) and several years of senior-level accounting experience, preferably in investment, financial services, or related sectors.
- Experience working in an international or multi-entity group structure, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
