Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace, bringing together the world’s leading risk takers to advance global progress.

Our strategy is focused on delivering strong underwriting performance, operating an efficient and flexible marketplace, and maximising the capital advantage of the Lloyd’s market — while continuing to build a Lloyd’s we are proud of.

How we deliver this, matters. We take the risk, make things happen, and own the outcome — working together across our global network to turn insight into impact.

Make the market better. It starts with you.

This is a rare opportunity to shape how risk is understood, managed and turned into value across the Lloyd’s market.

As Chief Actuary, you’ll lead one of the most influential actuarial roles in global insurance. You’ll hold the statutory SMF20 function, lead our Market Reserving and Capital team, and guide our wider actuarial community across Lloyd’s and the market.

You’ll set the direction for capital and reserving across the Lloyd’s market, making sure we have strong oversight, clear standards and confident decision-making. You’ll also play a key role in our Senior Leadership Team, helping deliver our strategy and shape the future of Lloyd’s.

At Lloyd’s, we bring together the world’s leading risk takers to advance global progress. This role sits at the heart of that ambition.

What you’ll do

You’ll lead with focus, integrity and influence. You’ll help us build trust, strengthen market performance and support better outcomes for our customers, members and market participants.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Act as Lloyd’s Chief Actuary, holding the statutory SMF20 responsibility for the Actuarial Function.
  • Lead the Market Reserving and Capital department, creating the conditions for people to do their best work.
  • Set the direction for reserving and capital oversight across the Lloyd’s market.
  • Own and develop the Reserving Risk policy, making sure key issues are identified, acted on and escalated where needed.
  • Oversee syndicate reserves across UK GAAP and UK Solvency bases.
  • Direct our risk-based approach to syndicate reserving processes and adequacy.
  • Lead the Lloyd’s Actuarial Community of Practice, championing innovation, best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Influence the wider market actuarial community, including Syndicate Chief Actuaries and Independent Signing Actuaries.
  • Shape and support capital-setting activity, including syndicate capital requirements and member capitalisation.
  • Work as part of Lloyd’s Senior Leadership Team, with shared accountability for delivering our strategy and Corporation objectives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
