Your Role

As Director, Chief Architect for Retail, you will guide leading retail clients through complex, technology-enabled transformation. You will influence business and technology strategy, help clients make critical investment decisions and shape enterprise-scale architecture that delivers measurable outcomes.

Working with senior stakeholders, including CTOs, Heads of Architecture and Heads of Engineering, you will define transformation roadmaps and lead multidisciplinary teams from initial strategy and solution shaping through to delivery and benefits realisation.

Your Profile

In this role, you will play a key role in:

  • Leading architecture across complex retail transformation programmes, from early strategy and solution shaping through to planning, delivery and benefits realisation.
  • Building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across existing and new client accounts.
  • Helping clients create secure, resilient and scalable foundations for future growth.
  • Applying your retail expertise across customer experience, omnichannel commerce, merchandising, supply chain, fulfilment and store operations.
  • Shaping solutions using modern enterprise platforms, ERP, specialist retail technologies, APIs, microservices, cloud, IoT and computer vision.
  • Defining the role and opportunity for AI within retail and architecting AI-enabled solutions that deliver measurable business value.
  • Building relationships with technology partners and identifying opportunities to create additional value for clients.
  • Supporting the financial growth of the sector and the continued development of our Retail Architecture capability.

As part of your role, you will also contribute to the business and your own personal growth through:

  • Business Development: Leading and contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitches and client-hosting events.
  • Internal Contribution: Supporting campaigns, thought leadership, practice development, recruitment, team activities, knowledge sharing and offering development.
  • Learning and Development: Undertaking training, professional development and relevant certifications to support your career and evolving market demand.

You Will Bring

  • Significant experience leading enterprise or solution architecture within the retail sector.
  • Strong retail sector knowledge, potentially spanning grocery, fashion, general merchandise, or health and beauty.
  • Experience selling and delivering complex architecture or technology transformation consulting engagements.
  • A track record of leading programmes from strategy and solution shaping through to delivery and benefits realisation.
  • Experience advising senior stakeholders and influencing strategic technology and investment decisions.
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise platforms, ERP, cloud, APIs, microservices and modern architecture approaches.
  • A clear understanding of the opportunities presented by AI in retail, supported by experience architecting or delivering AI-enabled solutions.
  • Strong commercial and business development capability, including experience leading proposals, bids and client pitches.
  • Proven success operating within a matrixed organisation and securing support from colleagues to sell and deliver consulting solutions.
  • A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to growing teams, communities and capability.
