We’re working with Crown Estate Scotland to appoint a Chief Asset Management Officer, a newly created senior leadership role.

About Crown Estate Scotland

Crown Estate Scotland’s purpose is investing in property, natural resources, and people to create lasting value for Scotland. Crown Estate Scotland (CES) seeks to maintain and enhance the value of the assets which it holds on behalf of the Monarch (“in right of the Crown”) and to pay its net revenue profit for each year to the Scottish Consolidated Fund.

Our vision is that the Scottish Estate supports a thriving and sustainable Scotland where land and resource under management benefit communities, environment and economy, both now and in the future.

Crown Estate Scotland is a unique business with a diverse portfolio that includes real estate, rural estates and the management of the seabed and the foreshore.

About the role

The Chief Asset Management Officer (CAMO) is responsible for the efficient and effective management and development of the assets of the Scottish Crown Estate across our rural, commercial, coastal, aquaculture and marine environment.

As a member of the newly established Corporate Leadership Team, the CAMO provides strategic leadership to CES, and expert advice to the CEO(AO) and the CES Board, balancing the complex tensions that exist between commercial success, delivering sustainable development, stewarding the Estate, and optimising financial returns for the public good.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
