Job Title: Director – Defence (Chief Business Development Officer)
Location: UK | Hybrid
A rare opportunity to shape and accelerate the growth of an established Aerospace & Defence engineering business.
I am partnering with a privately owned, international Aerospace & Defence group to appoint a senior defence business development leader who can help accelerate the organisation’s growth across the global defence sector.
The business is an established engineering and manufacturing organisation with a strong reputation for delivering complex precision components and solutions into major aerospace and defence programmes. With operations across the UK and internationally, it supports some of the world’s leading OEMs and prime contractors across both civil and military markets.
Following continued success and investment, the organisation is now entering an exciting phase of growth and is looking to appoint an exceptional leader to define and deliver its next stage of defence expansion.
Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the CEO and operating as part of the senior leadership team, this role will have a clear mandate: to identify new opportunities, build strategic relationships, and secure the defence programmes that will shape the future growth of the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
