We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity.

From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution - because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.

As part of our Risk team, you’ll provide independent oversight and challenge across enterprise, security, operational and technology risk, helping the firm make informed decisions to move quickly and safely.

Take the next step in your career.

The role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Business Risk Officer (CBRO) leads G-Research's second line of defence and is responsible for shaping and maturing the firm's enterprise risk capability.

Working closely with Engineering, Security and business leadership, the CBRO will ensure risk management is practical, scalable and embedded into how the firm builds and operates technology. The role provides independent oversight while enabling informed, risk-based decisions in a complex technical environment.

With the foundations of our enterprise risk framework established, we are looking for a leader with first-hand experience operating and evolving a modern second line function. This is not a traditional governance role. It requires a strong understanding of modern engineering and technology environments, balancing innovation with effective risk management.

Leading a multidisciplinary team, the CBRO will provide independent oversight while enabling the business to move quickly and safely.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
