An Exciting Opportunity for an Experienced Band 7 Cath Lab Cardiac Physiologist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Cath Lab Cardiac Physiologist to join London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced invasive physiologist with a minimum of two years’ Band 6 Cath Lab experience and a degree in BSc Cardiac Physiology / Cardiac Tech. They will be competent in haemodynamic monitoring during complex procedures including PCI, RHS/LHS study, CTO, and intra-coronary imaging and will support the cardiac rhythm management service including pacemakers, implantable loop recorders, and complex devices.
The role includes independent reporting, clinical supervision of junior staff, and contributing to training and service development within a busy and progressive department.
Developmental Applications
Developmental applications will be considered from candidates who meet most of the essential criteria and demonstrate the potential to progress into the Band 7 Role.
Key Responsibilities
- To be proficient as an independent practitioner in invasive and non-invasive cardiology procedures.
- To be able to work independently in the invasive Cardiac Catheter Laboratory service, performing unsupervised monitoring of invasive intra-cardiac pressures, ECG intracoronary imaging on clinically high-risk cardiac patients.
- To assist the Cardiologist on the insertion of Permanent Pacemaker, implantable loop, and complex devices and be responsible for checks in the pacing follow-up clinic. This will require the post holder to analyze complex data and recognize when to re-program parameters as per manufacturer and departmental procedure and protocols.
- To be able to independently perform simple and complex device follow-up clinics, optimizing devices, and escalating findings where necessary.
- To take responsibility for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation on patients in an emergency.
