Chief Commercial Officer

Hybrid with three days a week in London and occasional travel to other offices (Bath, Dublin, Edinburgh) as necessary.

About Us

Seccl is the Octopus owned embedded investment platform, on a mission to help more people invest, and invest well.

We’re building the infrastructure behind the next generation of investing. Our technology already powers some of the UK’s most ambitious fintechs, banks, financial advisers and wealth firms, and we’re scaling fast. Today, close to a million investors rely on Seccl-powered platforms, and we’re taking our first steps into Europe.

It’s an exciting time to join. We’ve got a proven product, strong momentum and huge ambitions for what comes next. Over the next few years, we’ll help more household-name brands launch and scale investment propositions, expand into new markets and continue replacing outdated investment infrastructure with technology that’s faster, simpler and built for scale.

We’re also proud to be part of Octopus, one of the UK’s most successful privately held investment and technology groups. That gives us the backing, ambition and long-term perspective to build something substantial, while keeping the pace and energy of a high-growth business. We’re both B Corp certified and share a belief that profit and purpose should go hand in hand.

If you want to join a fast-growing wealthtech at a pivotal point in its journey, and help shape the future of investing in the UK and across Europe, you’ll be in good company.

Check out the Seccl website to see what we’re building and read more about our mission to shape the future of investments.

The Role

Seccl has reached a pivotal point in its growth. Almost one million investors rely on our technology and we’re powering investment propositions for some of the UK’s best-known consumer brands, including Monzo, Tide and MoneySuperMarket, alongside leading wealth businesses such as Söderberg & Partners, P1 and Cooper Parry. Our expansion into Europe is underway too.

We’ve built the technology, earned the trust of ambitious firms and proved that our model can scale. Now we want to accelerate that momentum, winning bigger customers, deepening our existing partnerships and expanding into new markets.

We believe Seccl can become the defining investment infrastructure business of its generation. As our Chief Commercial Officer, you’ll play a central role in making that happen.

You’ll join our executive leadership team and take ownership of Seccl’s commercial growth across sales, account management, customer success and marketing. You’ll build the commercial engine for our next stage of growth: winning more ambitious firms, helping our existing customers become even more successful, opening up new markets and verticals, and building strategic partnerships that can materially accelerate our growth.

This is a hands-on executive role. You’ll set the strategy, build an exceptional commercial organisation and stay close to the customers and opportunities that matter most. You’ll be in the room for our biggest pitches, negotiations and partnerships, and you’ll help decide where Seccl goes next.

Your influence will reach across the business. You’ll work closely with product and engineering to turn customer and market insight into better propositions, with finance to shape our growth plans, and with operations, risk and compliance to make sure we scale sustainably.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Own…

  • Setting and delivering the commercial strategy that takes Seccl through its next stage of growth
  • Building and leading a brilliant commercial organisation across sales, account management, customer success and marketing
  • Winning the firms and strategic partnerships that can materially change Seccl’s trajectory
  • Turning our strongest customer relationships into deeper, longer-term partnerships, helping customers grow while increasing Seccl’s revenue with them
  • Leading our most important enterprise opportunities, negotiations and executive-level customer relationships
  • Shaping our expansion into new markets, including Europe, and identifying the verticals where Seccl has the greatest opportunity to win
  • Bringing customer and market insight into our product strategy, working closely with product and engineering
  • Owning commercial planning, forecasting, retention, expansion and long-term customer value
  • Helping shape Seccl’s overall direction as a member of the executive leadership team
  • Building Seccl’s reputation and influence across the wealth and investment industry

This Role’s For You If…

  • You’re a commercial leader who has helped a financial services business through a period of significant growth. You can think several years ahead and still roll up your sleeves for the pitch, negotiation or customer conversation that matters today.
  • You have significant senior commercial leadership experience in financial services, ideally across investment platforms, wealth management, financial advice or banking
  • You’ve built and delivered commercial strategies that have generated significant, sustainable growth
  • You know how to grow existing customer relationships as well as win new ones, and can turn strong partnerships into meaningful long-term commercial value
  • You’re comfortable personally leading complex enterprise sales, negotiations and senior customer relationships rather than only managing through others
  • You understand how to commercialise technology-led products and can turn complex technical capability into clear customer value
  • You’re an experienced people leader who can build capability, develop future leaders and create a high-performing team
  • You understand the different commercial drivers across customer segments and can spot where new technology, including AI, could create better propositions and new growth opportunities
  • You have strong commercial and financial judgement, including experience of forecasting, budgeting and performance management
  • You’re comfortable operating in a regulated financial services environment and know how to pursue ambitious growth while making sound decisions about risk and regulatory obligations

This Role Isn’t For You If…

  • You want to operate purely at a strategic level. This is an executive role, but we expect our leaders to stay close to the work and get involved when it matters
  • You see commercial as a function rather than a company-wide responsibility. Success here means working closely with product, engineering, operations, finance, risk and compliance to make the whole business more successful
  • You’re mainly motivated by winning new logos. Growing and deepening our relationships with existing customers will be just as important
  • You need everything to be fully defined before you act. We’re growing quickly, so you’ll need to make good decisions with imperfect information and adapt as you learn
  • You’re happy maintaining the status quo. We’re ambitious about where Seccl can go, and we need leaders who will keep raising the bar for themselves, their teams and the business
