About the Role
Quilter is currently investing in an ambitious transformation programme to drive growth, modernise its technology infrastructure and deliver an excellent customer experience. High quality data is core to the success of our strategy, and we have therefore created a new position reporting directly to the Group Chief Operating Officer to lead the creation and implementation of a Quilter wide data strategy.
Based in London, or Southampton (hybrid, 2-3 days in office), our Chief Data Officer (CDO), will shape how we harness data, insight and AI to drive growth, improve customer outcomes and strengthen decision-making across the Group. Reporting to the Chief Data and Technology Officer, this is a pivotal enterprise leadership role with responsibility for defining and delivering Quilter's data strategy. You'll ensure data is treated as a strategic asset, creating the foundations that enable advanced analytics, digital transformation and the responsible adoption of AI at scale.
Working closely with Executive Committee members, business leaders and technology teams, you'll identify opportunities where data can unlock commercial value, enhance client and adviser experiences, improve operational performance and support our ambitious growth agenda.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
