£150,000-£180,000 base + benefits/bonus | Permanent

I'm currently representing my client on a newly created Chief Data Officer position, offering the opportunity to build and lead a modern data capability from the ground up.
The Role:
- Own and execute the overall Data & AI strategy.
- Define the data architecture, tooling, and delivery approach.
- Build a modern data platform and engineering capability from scratch.
- Establish and lead a lean, high-performing data team.
- Drive the use of data across analytics, customer journeys, and predictive modelling.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and agentic technologies to accelerate delivery.
- Own execution, communicating progress, risks, and key decisions to senior leadership.

Requirements:
- Strong background across data engineering, BI, and analytics.
- Proven experience building data capabilities from the ground up.
- Strong technical judgement and understanding of modern data architecture.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing data teams.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to make pragmatic technology decisions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Experience delivering within a lean, cost-conscious environment.
- Hands-on experience with modern AI tooling, Microsoft Foundry, or agentic engineering.
- Experience establishing a modern data platform from scratch.
- A track record of turning data strategy into measurable business outcomes.
- The ability to simplify complex technical challenges and drive delivery at pace.
