Role Description
The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations for Hilton Colombo’s facilities and equipment. This full-time, on-site role, located in the London Area, United Kingdom, involves planning and supervising preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards. The Chief Engineer leads and develops the engineering team, manages contractors and service providers, and coordinates with other hotel departments to minimize operational disruption.

- Monitoring energy usage and implementing efficiency measures
- Managing budgets and maintenance records
- Responding to urgent repair needs
- Supporting capital projects and refurbishment initiatives
- Maintaining health and safety procedures
- Conducting regular inspections
- Driving continuous improvement in hotel infrastructure and guest comfort
Qualifications
- Strong building services and facilities management skills, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance, asset management, and engineering project coordination.
- Proficiency in health, safety, and environmental compliance, with knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
- Ability to lead, train, and motivate a multidisciplinary engineering team, and manage external vendors and contractors.
- Sound budgeting, cost control, and planning capabilities, with experience using maintenance management or CMMS tools.
- Background in hospitality, commercial property, or a similar operational environment is highly beneficial.
- Degree or diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical qualification.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work on-site in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
