A bit about what you will do...
Chief Engineers in our luxurious hotel lead from the front and take a proactive, hands-on approach, overseeing all aspects of maintenance operations, ensuring excellent standards are maintained, creating a welcoming and safe environment that consistently exceeds guests’ expectations.
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services.
- Prepare and monitor the annual departmental operating budget, with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance and capital planning.
- Lead hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion within budget.
- Manage Health & Safety, including statutory compliance, risk assessment, permits to work and safe working practices.
- Address any guest concerns promptly, attentively and efficiently.
- Liaise closely with other hotel departments and wider management team to support the continual improvement of property maintenance standards.
- Maintain and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and supporting “green” initiatives.
- Act as property leader for the brand’s ‘Green Engage’ program.
- Coach, train, and support the team to provide consistently high standards while continually looking to improve.
- Perform Duty Manager shifts as required.

More about you...
- Strong leadership skills with proven experience to manage a team.
- Clear and influential communicator with the ability to interact across all levels.
- Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of budgeting and cost control.
- Proven experience to lead a green initiative for a large hotel.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
- Proven experience in managing, coaching, challenging and developing teams.
- Approachable and positive manner with a “can do” attitude.
- Ability to use initiative in challenging situations and under pressure.
- A smart and professional appearance.
- Proven track record in a similar position within a 5-star hotel.
- Recognised electrical or engineering qualification and specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields.
- Pool plant operator qualification preferred.
- Excellent understanding of Health and Safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of the operation, control and maintenance of building services plant and systems.
- Previous experience using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent standard of English, both written and spoken.
