Chief Executive/ Director
The Plough Arts Centre (The Plough) is seeking applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer and Director.
The Role
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic professional to lead the organisation through the exciting next stage of its development. We are seeking someone who shares our commitment to providing high quality and diverse cultural experiences to our audiences and communities, and to working in an inclusive and responsible way to deliver our ambitions.
For much of its existence, the Plough Arts Centre was outside of regular Arts Council England (ACE) core funding. However, in 2023, the Plough was awarded National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) status, and is now applying for the next round whilst continuing to be supported by the local councils. The CEO /Director position will be a broad one; it will combine steering The Plough artistically, with the need to be operationally involved, and balancing the commercial opportunities alongside the charitable objectives of the organisation. The position is supported by an expert and friendly team who are passionate about the arts centre and the role it plays within the community, and the audiences it brings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
