About The Neuro Therapy Place
The Neuro Therapy Place provides a therapeutic community hub where people living with neurological conditions can access a wide range of therapies, rehabilitation, wellbeing services, advice, and support in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Our services include physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, rehabilitation and wellbeing programmes, complementary therapies, alongside referrals and partnership working with other organisations. We are committed to delivering high quality, person-centred services while ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the charity.
Purpose of the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead our organisation at a pivotal stage in its development. Following a period of significant organisational development and transformation, The Neuro Therapy Place is entering its next phase of growth, focused on sustainability, external partnership development, and excellence in service delivery.
We welcome applications from both experienced Chief Executive Officers seeking a new challenge and ambitious senior leaders who are ready to take the next step into executive leadership.
The appointment made will reflect the successful candidate's experience, skills, and readiness for the role:
- Experienced CEOs: or candidates with demonstrable CEO-level capability, will be appointed directly as Chief Executive Officer.
- Aspiring CEOs: will be appointed as Chief Executive Officer and supported through a structured succession and development programme.
Experience of working at senior management, Head of Service, Director, CEO, or Deputy CEO level would be advantageous.
Transition
As part of the Board's planned succession arrangements, the current Chief Executive Officer will provide a comprehensive leadership transition and organisational handover and will be available for up to three months following the appointment of the successful candidate, providing mentoring, knowledge transfer, and strategic support. The duration and level of support will be tailored to the needs of the successful candidate and the organisation.
The salary range of £35,000–£46,500 reflects the breadth of experience and capability we are seeking. Starting salary will be determined according to the successful candidate's skills, experience, and level of appointment.
Responsibility for the full range of CEO duties and accountabilities will progressively increase throughout the handover period, with full responsibility for the role transferring upon the departure of the current CEO.
This is a fully onsite leadership role, reflecting the nature of The Neuro Therapy Place’s services, the importance of visible and accessible leadership, and the need to work closely with clients, staff, volunteers, and partners. The successful candidate should be comfortable working primarily from our centre as part of the planned leadership transition.

Operational Performance & Service Delivery
- Deliver the annual business plan, ensuring agreed objectives, outcomes, and key performance indicators are achieved.
- Ensure services remain high quality, accessible, person-centred, and aligned with the needs of people living with neurological conditions and their families/carers.
- Ensure effective systems, policies, and procedures are in place to support safe, compliant, and efficient service delivery.
- Regularly review organisational policies and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and leading continuous development of ways of working.
- Oversee the effective management and protection of organisational assets, including premises, equipment, and resources.
- Ensure appropriate approaches are in place for risk management, health and safety, safeguarding, information governance, and compliance.
Strategy & Development
- Work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees to develop and deliver the organisation’s strategic plan and rolling three-year business objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies, legislation, funding landscapes, and sector developments affecting neurological services, health inequalities, and the charity sector.
- Identify opportunities, risks, and emerging challenges, providing advice and recommendations to the Board to support effective decision-making.
- Lead the implementation, communication, monitoring, and evaluation of strategic objectives, reporting progress regularly to the Board and relevant stakeholders.
- Represent The Neuro Therapy Place within relevant local and national networks, contributing to discussions around neurological conditions, health inequalities, physical health, mental wellbeing, and access to services.
Leadership & Culture
- Provide visible and values-led leadership, developing a culture that reflects the principles of The Neuro Therapy Place and enables staff and volunteers to perform at their best.
- Lead, support, and develop the team, ensuring clear objectives, appropriate structures, effective communication, strong performance, and continuous professional development.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, workforce planning, performance management, and HR processes in line with organisational policies and employment legislation.
- Recommend annual pay reviews and workforce changes to the Board where appropriate.
- Lead organisational development and change initiatives, ensuring the charity continues to adapt, innovate, and respond effectively to the changing needs of the communities it serves.
- Ensure the organisation’s resources, skills, partnerships, and assets are effectively developed and utilised to maximise impact.

Financial Sustainability & Income Generation
- Lead the organisation’s financial strategy, ensuring effective budget management, financial sustainability, and responsible use of resources.
- Work with the Board, Treasurer, and charity accountant to develop, monitor, and review annual budgets aligned with strategic priorities.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls, reporting mechanisms, and governance processes are maintained, keeping the Board informed of financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead the organisation’s income generation strategy, ensuring a diverse and sustainable funding model through grants, partnerships, fundraising, commissioned services, and other appropriate opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with funders, donors, commissioners, and strategic partners.
- Lead negotiations and maintain key contracts, funding agreements, and partnerships required to support the organisation’s current and future activities.
External Relationships & Partnerships
- Act as an ambassador for The Neuro Therapy Place, promoting the organisation’s mission, values, and impact.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, healthcare providers, statutory bodies, community organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships that increase awareness, improve services, and strengthen the organisation’s position within the sector.
- Enhance the organisation’s reputation locally and nationally through effective communication, representation, and collaboration.
Governance & Support to the Board
- Support, advise, and equip the Chair and Board of Trustees to fulfil their responsibilities under charity law, governance requirements, and organisational best practice.
- Ensure Board and committee meetings are well planned, appropriately prepared, and supported with accurate information and reporting.
- Support the preparation and delivery of the Annual General Meeting.
- Ensure effective governance processes are maintained, including compliance with charity regulations, GDPR, data protection requirements, and organisational policies.
- Support the Chair in the recruitment, induction, development, and retention of Board members.
Working Arrangements
This is a fully onsite leadership role based at The Neuro Therapy Place. The CEO is expected to maintain a visible presence within the centre, providing accessible leadership to staff, volunteers, clients, and stakeholders.
Other Duties
These duties provide an overview of the responsibilities expected of the post holder. The role may evolve over time, and additional responsibilities or changes to duties may be required to support the ongoing development and needs of The Neuro Therapy Place.
