Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to:

Chairman

Working Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm

Salary:

Negotiable with good remuneration package

Location:

Strood, Kent, with some national travel

Purpose:

An opening has arisen for a Chief Executive Officer to be based at H. E. Group Head Office in Strood, Kent. The H.E. Group comprises a diverse range of businesses including, but not limited to:

  • H. E. Services (Plant Hire) Ltd – The UK’s largest specialist excavator hire company
  • Diggerland – The UK’s only construction industry related theme park.
  • EVision Electric Vehicles – The UK’s first and largest electric only vehicle rental company
  • Masterhitch Europe Ltd – A heavy engineering company based in Kent

The position would be leading a core staff of approximately 500 employees and will require the individual to provide leadership to enable the H.E. Group to develop and deliver its vision encompassing its objectives in line with regulation, statute and legislation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with our Chairman in the overall planning and management to support the Group’s strategies and plan.
  • Review the operations and results of the organisation and report to Chairman/Directors.
  • Formulate policies and plan, direct, control and coordinate the activities within the business.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve continued growth and profit.
  • Lead, manage and drive forward the organisation including evaluating and collaborative working with other senior leaders.
  • Setting the culture from the top of the organisation and drive values and behaviours aligned to the culture and purpose of the H.E. Group. Working closely with the Chairman to ensure operational, financial and compliance objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Providing outstanding leadership to the core (employed) team, using the appropriate balance of encouragement, support, and challenge, in order to engage team members and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Evidence of leadership at Executive or Senior Management level
  • Previous experience in the construction industry desirable but not essential
