Chief Executive Officer
The Sovereign Trust
Lead with purpose. Inspire excellence. Transform lives.
The Sovereign Trust is seeking an exceptional leader to become our next Chief Executive Officer.
Following the retirement of our highly respected CEO, Paul Eckley, this is a rare opportunity to lead a thriving specialist Multi-Academy Trust dedicated to transforming the lives of children and young people with special educational needs.
Our Vision
"To be a centre of excellence for learning and development for pupils with special educational needs."
We are a family of schools that believe that by learning and growing together, we can inspire children and young people to achieve their highest personal achievements whilst enjoying individualised, innovative and creative teaching and learning.
Today, The Sovereign Trust comprises seven specialist academies and provisions, supporting more than 900 pupils and students across Greater Manchester, each united by our shared values of Respect, Integrity, Opportunity, Community and Enjoyment. This is much more than a CEO role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
