Chief Executive Officer

St Joseph’s Hospice

Location: Thornton, Liverpool
Salary: c£95,000 + excellent benefits

For more than 50 years, St Joseph’s Hospice has provided outstanding specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people across Merseyside and West Lancashire. Set within a beautiful 12-acre site in Thornton and home to one of the largest inpatient hospice units in the region, the hospice cares for around 200 patients each year and supports hundreds of family members through some of life’s most difficult moments. With ambitious plans to expand community engagement, develop innovative services and strengthen long-term sustainability, this is an exciting time to join the organisation.

Following the retirement of its long-serving Chief Executive, the Board is seeking an exceptional leader to guide St Joseph’s into its next chapter. Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic, operational and cultural leadership, ensuring the delivery of outstanding patient care while securing the hospice’s financial resilience and future growth. The role will lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, build influential partnerships across health, care and the voluntary sector, and act as a passionate ambassador for the hospice across the region.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
