Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

FCA-Regulated FinTech & Payments Business

Location: Remote (UK) – Preference for London or within a few hours' travel
Type: Full-Time | Executive Leadership

Guardian Professional Services is exclusively recruiting on behalf of a well-established FCA-regulated fintech and payments organisation seeking an experienced and commercially driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a regulated business through its next phase of strategic growth, driving commercial performance while maintaining the highest standards of governance, compliance, and operational excellence.

Reporting directly to the Board, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across all areas of the business, ensuring sustainable growth, regulatory integrity, and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company's strategic vision in partnership with the Board.
  • Drive sustainable business growth, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing executive leadership team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other key regulatory stakeholders.
  • Ensure robust governance, compliance, enterprise risk management, financial crime controls, and operational resilience.
  • Identify and develop new commercial opportunities, partnerships, products, and revenue streams.
  • Take overall responsibility for financial performance, operational delivery, and organisational strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with banking partners, payment providers, investors, and key commercial stakeholders.
  • Ensure the organisation has the people, systems, and infrastructure required to support continued growth.

About You

We're looking for an accomplished executive who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience as a CEO, Managing Director, COO, or equivalent executive leadership position.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience within payments, fintech, electronic money, payment institutions, or regulated financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK payments ecosystem and FCA regulatory environment.
  • A proven track record of scaling and growing a regulated financial services business.
  • Full P&L responsibility with a strong commercial focus.
  • Experience working closely with Boards, regulators, investors, and strategic partners.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • In-depth understanding of governance, compliance, AML, financial crime prevention, risk management, and operational resilience.

Please note: This opportunity is focused on candidates with a strong background in the payments and fintech sector. Applicants whose experience is limited to traditional banking, without significant payments or fintech expertise, are unlikely to be suitable.

Location

This is a fully remote UK-based position. While candidates based in London are preferred, outstanding applicants located within a few hours of London will also be considered.
