Chief Executive Officer Opportunity
TWYD & Co is advising the Board of an established, privately owned business on the appointment of its next Chief Executive Officer.
The organisation comprises several operating businesses, each with its own leadership team, customers, and commercial priorities. It is successful, financially secure, and ambitious about its future.
The CEO will take responsibility for the performance and continued development of the organisation as a whole.
This is not simply about running a larger version of one business. It requires someone who can lead through other senior leaders, establish clear accountability across different businesses, and provide a strong sense of direction without becoming drawn too deeply into every operational decision.
Working closely with the Chair and Board, the CEO will:
- Provide clear leadership and direction across the organisation.
- Support and challenge the leaders of its individual businesses.
- Strengthen accountability, performance, and collaboration.
- Determine where to invest, develop, or change.
- Ensure that growth is commercially sound and properly managed.
- Shape the next stage of the organisation’s development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are interested in experienced Chief Executives, Managing Directors, Chief Operating Officers, and divisional leaders who have operated across more than one business, market, or operating model.
Candidates do not need to come from a particular sector, although experience of B2B services would be of particular interest. More important will be evidence that they can understand different businesses, ask the right questions, and distinguish between matters requiring their involvement and those best left with the individual leadership teams.
The successful candidate is likely to bring:
- Experience of leading at group, divisional, or multi-business level.
- Strong commercial and financial judgement.
- The ability to work effectively with an active Board and private shareholders.
- A measured, straightforward, and low-ego leadership style.
- The confidence to challenge constructively and make difficult decisions.
- A strong record of developing capable senior leaders.
- The ability to combine strategic perspective with a firm grasp of operational performance.
