Chief Financial Officer

Scotland | Hybrid, typically 2–3 days on site
£150,000–£160,000 + significant equity

Harvey John is partnering with an investor-backed, international technology business to appoint a Chief Financial Officer as it enters an important next phase of growth.

The business has scaled internationally, operates across multiple markets and is currently progressing a significant growth funding round. With further expansion planned, the CFO will play a central role in strengthening financial discipline, supporting the deployment of new capital and preparing the organisation for future strategic options.

This is a genuine CFO mandate with significant exposure to the CEO, leadership team, investors and Board.

The mandate

The incoming CFO will take ownership of the finance function and help build the financial infrastructure required for the next stage of scale.

Key priorities will include:

  • Strengthening cash management, cost control and financial discipline
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, FP&A and performance reporting
  • Supporting the effective deployment and allocation of growth capital
  • Building greater visibility around profitability, margins and recurring revenue
  • Developing scalable financial controls, systems and reporting
  • Supporting completion and optimisation of an ongoing ERP transformation
  • Leading investor reporting and supporting future fundraising
  • Working closely with the leadership team on commercial and strategic decisions
  • Supporting international growth and multi-entity operations
  • Preparing the business for future due diligence, transactions and a potential liquidity event
  • Developing the finance team and strengthening capability beneath the CFO

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The person

We are looking for a commercially strong finance leader who combines technical credibility with the presence to operate effectively with investors and a senior leadership team.

You are likely to have:

  • CFO, Finance Director or equivalent senior finance leadership experience
  • Experience within an investor-backed, high-growth or similarly complex scaling business
  • Strong Board and investor exposure
  • Experience scaling financial infrastructure, controls and reporting
  • International or multi-entity experience
  • Strong cash, forecasting and commercial finance capability
  • Experience of fundraising, M&A, due diligence or preparing a business for a transaction
  • The ability to operate comfortably in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment

Experience within technology, SaaS, hardware/software, rental, leasing or asset-backed business models would be particularly relevant, but sector background is not being treated rigidly.

Leadership style

This business is looking for more than a technically capable CFO.

The successful person will need to bring:

  • Calm, measured executive presence
  • Credibility with investors and senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial judgement
  • A collaborative, low-ego leadership style
  • The confidence to challenge constructively
  • The ability to move comfortably between strategic Board-level conversations and the operational detail of a scaling business

Location

The role is based in Scotland with a hybrid working model.

The expectation is typically around 2–3 days per week on site, so candidates based across Scotland or those able to make a credible regular commitment to the location can be considered.

Package

  • Base salary: £130,000–£160,000, with some flexibility for an exceptional candidate
  • Equity: currently set at 100% of salary on appointment and reviewed annually
  • Bonus: none currently
  • Permanent, full-time appointment

This should particularly appeal to a CFO who enjoys the build and value-creation phase of an investor-backed business and wants a meaningful role in shaping its journey towards the next strategic event.
