Role

We are looking for a senior Fractional CFO / Strategic Finance & Capital Raising Lead to work directly with the founders during a critical stage of BiomeQ’s development. The immediate mandate is capital raising, not routine financial administration.

We need someone who can help turn BiomeQ’s technical and commercial traction into an investable proposition, build and run a disciplined fundraising process, open doors to relevant investors and help convert those conversations into a completed financing round.

This person should have a genuine and current investor network and ideally have personally helped raise institutional capital for companies in one or more of the following areas: deep tech · defence / dual use · biotechnology · healthcare / life sciences · AI / data infrastructure · advanced engineering

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop BiomeQ’s financing strategy, including round size, use of funds, valuation logic, investor segmentation and sequencing.
  • Build a targeted investor universe across relevant VCs, specialist funds, defence and deep-tech investors, family offices, strategic investors and institutional capital.
  • Generate high-quality warm investor introductions through an existing network rather than relying primarily on cold outreach.
  • Work directly with the CEO to manage investor conversations from introduction through diligence and term-sheet discussions.
  • Refine BiomeQ’s investment narrative around commercial traction, defensibility, market opportunity, scalability and business model.
  • Maintain and develop the financial model, including runway, revenue scenarios, funding requirements and future capital needs.
  • Prepare the company and data room for investor diligence.
  • Translate pilots, contracts, statements of requirement and strategic partnerships into a credible commercial and investment story.
  • Develop pricing, unit economics and recurring-revenue assumptions as early deployments convert into contracts.
  • Advise the founders on valuation, dilution, cap-table strategy and financing structure.
  • Support engagement with corporate-finance advisers and institutional investors where appropriate.
  • Help prepare BiomeQ for future institutional rounds and, over time, potential public-market readiness.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • A current and usable investor network.
  • Evidence of direct involvement in successful financing transactions.
  • Strong understanding of venture financing, valuation, cap tables, dilution and investor diligence.
  • Experience working with technically complex businesses.
  • Ability to translate a deep-tech proposition into a clear institutional investment case.
  • Strong commercial judgement and willingness to challenge assumptions.
  • Comfortable working directly with founders in a fast-moving environment.
  • Able to run a fundraising process, not simply provide occasional introductions.

Preferred:

  • Seed to Series B fundraising experience.
  • Defence or dual-use investor relationships.
  • Biotechnology, healthcare or life-science investor relationships.
  • Family-office and strategic-investor networks.
  • Experience helping a company move from technical validation into first meaningful revenues.

What success looks like

This role will be measured by outcomes rather than presentations produced. Success means helping BiomeQ move from: commercial validation → investable proposition → qualified investor engagement → funded growth

Appointment structure

BiomeQ is currently pre-institutional financing and is structuring this initially as a six-month fractional, equity-led appointment. The successful candidate would work directly with the founders during this period to build and execute the financing process.

We are not offering a conventional CFO cash retainer during the initial pre-financing period. Instead, we are prepared to offer a meaningful equity package reflecting the seniority, time commitment and contribution of the individual, subject to appropriate vesting and shareholder documentation. The expected initial commitment is approximately one day per week, flexing where appropriate during an active financing process.

Following a successful institutional financing, the position would be reviewed with the intention of introducing an appropriate cash remuneration package and, where mutually suitable, expanding the role into a longer-term fractional or permanent CFO appointment.

Why join now

BiomeQ is at the point where access to the right capital can materially accelerate commercial deployment. This is an opportunity to join before institutional financing, work directly with the founders, help shape the financing strategy and participate meaningfully in the value created as the company moves from validation into commercial scale. We are looking for someone who wants to help build BiomeQ, not simply advise it from the sidelines.
