The Chief Financial Officer Role
📍 Location: Hybrid from our Glasgow HQ (Hillington)
We're looking for a CFO to own the next stage of Go Swag's growth, reporting directly to the CEO and providing the Board with total clarity on the numbers. As we scale rapidly across multiple territories, we have an exciting opportunity for the Finance function to become a core driver of business efficiency and a genuine force shaping our strategic direction.
This role is built for someone who thrives in the early-to-mid stages of a company's journey. You'll inherit a strong finance team already in place, and the foundations to build on. The right person will be ready to professionalise our fiscal environment further, own financial operations across multiple jurisdictions, and give the CEO and Board total clarity on the numbers, always.
We’re hiring a leader who brings a proven playbook, but applies it pragmatically - rigour without stifling the agility that's got us here. Go Swag moves fast and experiments constantly; this role calls for someone just as comfortable stress-testing a bold new idea as they are closing the books on time. This is a high-autonomy role with direct access to our Founders, and a genuine seat at the table.
Essential Skills
- Proven scale-up or high-growth startup background - you understand the pace and what it takes to build in a VC backed start up environment.
- A strong communicator who can translate complex financials into clear narratives for founders and senior stakeholders.
- Multi-jurisdiction experience across different regulatory environments.
- A strategic thinker equally comfortable in the detail - you know when to zoom out and when to get into the weeds.
- A commercial sparring partner - you engage with fast-moving ideas at pace and will apply financial instinct to help us interrogate decisions before we commit.
- A people leader who has hired, mentored, and developed finance talent.
- Comfort evaluating and implementing new tooling - ERPs, data modelling, or compliance readiness (e.g. ISO 27001).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
