Premier League Football Club CFO Opportunity

Premier League football club require a Chief Financial Officer to join at their London base. The CFO will serve as a pivotal member of the executive leadership team, taking full responsibility for the financial strategy and operations of the club. This is not simply a financial management position, the CFO will be instrumental in shaping strategic decisions, ensuring financial resilience, and supporting transformative projects that define the organisation's future.

The Role

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the club's vision; lead financial planning and analysis to support executive decision-making; ensure robust, efficient, and compliant financial operations across all regulatory requirements
  • Direct the financial aspects of major capital projects, including the main stand redevelopment initiative; collaborate with project managers and contractors to monitor expenses meticulously and ensure strict budget adherence; manage financing and funding arrangements to secure necessary investments and ensure financial viability
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget in alignment with strategic goals; monitor departmental expenditure rigorously, ensuring all teams operate within allocated budgets; deliver comprehensive financial performance reports to the Executive Chairman and Board
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, and regulatory bodies; communicate financial performance and strategic initiatives transparently to senior leadership; work efficiently with auditors to ensure timely and accurate financial audits
  • Ensure adherence to all financial regulations including Premier League and UEFA guidelines; identify and mitigate financial risks through robust frameworks; maintain ethical and transparent financial practices; uphold company policies including Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities procedures

  • Extensive background in senior financial management roles with proven track record in large-scale project management
  • Demonstrated experience in the sports, entertainment, or comparable industries preferred but not essential
  • Advanced professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Expert-level proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP systems
  • Proven expertise managing construction or major redevelopment projects from a financial perspective
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, compliance frameworks, and risk management protocols
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical capabilities with strong numerical acumen
  • Outstanding leadership abilities with experience mentoring and developing finance professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and external partners
  • Strong relationship-building capabilities across all organisational levels
  • Advanced technical proficiency with financial software, ERP systems, and modern financial tools
  • Strategic mindset with focus on driving sustainable, long-term growth
