Chief Financial Officer
London/Thornton Heath (Hybrid)
£100,000 per annum (£150k OTE + options)
We're recruiting for a CFO to join a fast scaling, VC/PE backed tech company that's reshaping a major part of urban infrastructure and is genuinely one of the fastest growing businesses in its space in the UK right now.
This isn't a back office, keep the books CFO role. It's a seat at the top table from day one, right hand to the CEO, with real ownership of the numbers behind every growth decision.
What you'll be doing
- Building FP&A, forecasting and board and investor reporting from a genuinely blank page
- Partnering with the CEO on commercial deal making, pricing and contract economics
- Owning cash flow, capex and scenario planning as the business scales
- Getting properly involved in fundraising, refinancing and M&A as it happens, not just reporting on it after the fact
- Using AI and modern data tooling (think Snowflake, BigQuery, Looker, Metabase or similar) to build a lean finance function that punches well above its weight
- Building, leading and developing the wider finance team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What we're looking for
- You've led a finance function before, or you're a strong FD or Head of Finance ready to step up, and either way you can talk us through something you built, not just something you ran
- Commercially minded: you read the business, not just the ledger, and you have a view on where value is created and where it leaks
- Hands on: you'll build it yourself before you delegate it
- Comfortable making the numbers land for very different audiences, a founder, an ops lead and an investor in the same room
- Bonus points for VC/PE backed scale up experience, fundraising or M&A exposure, and experience presenting to a board or investor syndicate
