About the Opportunity
We are Stax, a specialist deep tech headhunting firm. We have been retained by one of the fastest-growing AI companies in Europe to secure their foundational Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Moving away from the fragile model of renting centralised cloud APIs, our client has engineered a breakthrough, first-principles AI infrastructure platform. Their technology allows global enterprises to deploy fully customisable, continuously learning models that remain entirely owned by the client.
Having shattered growth records by scaling from £1M ARR to £20M ARR in under three quarters, they are backed by elite strategic partners in institutional finance and are actively structuring a £50M–£100M Series A fundraise for this year. To support this explosive trajectory, they are executing an aggressive global roadmap with plans to expand operations into New York and Singapore within the next 12 months.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role
As CFO, you will act as the strategic co-pilot to the founders during a high-stakes corporate inflection point. You will instantly inherit a hyper-growth financial ecosystem, build an institutional-grade FP&A function from scratch, and architect the financial framework required to scale a multi-jurisdictional global footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Capital Strategy & Fundraising: Lead the upcoming £50m–£100m Series A roadshow, architect investor relations, and manage cap table mechanics for subsequent Series B/C horizons.
- Global Expansion & Entity Setup: Establish the financial infrastructure, tax compliance, and legal entities required for rapid market entry into the US (New York) and APAC (Singapore) markets over the next 12 months.
- Margin & Compute Architecture: Model and manage the unit economics unique to AI-native businesses, balancing heavy GPU/cloud infrastructure compute costs against high-velocity SaaS licensing software margins.
- Enterprise Financial Operations: Oversee complex cross-border revenue recognition (IFRS 15 / ASC 606), corporate governance, and procurement cycles for blue-chip institutional finance and enterprise clients.
- Team Scaling: Recruit, mentor, and scale a world-class, international finance and compliance team capable of supporting a multi-hundred-million-pound global valuation.
