Chief Finance Officer

An established multi-site care organisation is seeking a Chief Finance Officer to join its Executive Team. The organisation provides important residential care services across the UK and is entering a significant period of change, investment and modernisation.

This is a broad, hands-on CFO role combining day-to-day financial leadership with strategic influence. The successful candidate will lead the finance function, strengthen commercial insight and performance reporting, drive systems transformation and support major property and capital investment decisions.

Duties

  • Lead the organisation’s financial strategy, planning, governance and overall financial management.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, cash flow, treasury, working capital, statutory reporting, audit, tax and financial controls.
  • Develop stronger commercial finance, business partnering, KPIs and dashboard reporting across a multi-site operating environment.
  • Provide profitability, costing and performance analysis by site and service, supporting occupancy, pricing and income decisions.
  • Lead finance systems and broader digital transformation, including integrated reporting, business intelligence and data governance.
  • Provide financial modelling and business cases for major capital projects, property investment, estate rationalisation, acquisitions and disposals.
  • Support the Chief Executive, Executive Team and Board with financial insight, risk management and investment decisions.
  • Lead, develop and build capability across the finance team, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
