About Deep Optica

Deep Optica is an AI4Science company building a Mining World Model — a system that integrates geological, geophysical, geochemical, remote sensing, and drilling data into probabilistic subsurface representations. Our data foundation includes 200,000+ engineered drillholes and 1,500 block models. We deliver this through expert-led exploration services and agent-based software, helping miners and investors evaluate assets in early-stage exploration and transactions.

The Role

Full-time, hybrid, London. You will join as a founding executive — the company's scientific direction, service model, and market reputation will carry your imprint. You will be the scientific authority behind the Mining World Model and a commercial principal in the business.

  • Set the geological logic of the World Model: ore deposit frameworks, structural controls, data quality standards, and how uncertainty is represented
  • Work daily with ML engineers to translate geoscience into computational form
  • Lead technical delivery on client exploration and due diligence mandates; your sign-off carries the firm's credibility
  • Co-develop the business model: shape service offerings, support deal structuring where we take equity, royalties, or carried interests in projects, and represent Deep Optica with clients, investors, and partners
  • Build and mentor the geoscience function as the company scales

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep expertise in economic geology and ore deposit systems (porphyry, epithermal, VMS, orogenic, sediment-hosted)
  • Strong command of structural geology and its controls on mineralization
  • Exploration geochemistry and mining geophysics (magnetics, IP, EM, gravity)
  • Fluency in drillhole data, 3D geological modelling (Leapfrog, Datamine, Micromine), and resource estimation fundamentals
  • Competent Person / Qualified Person status (JORC or NI 43-101), or clear eligibility
  • 15+ years across exploration and evaluation, with a track record leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working with data science or AI/ML teams; comfort with Python or similar a plus
  • Ability to explain geological uncertainty and risk to boards, investors, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Commercial instinct — you see exploration as a capital allocation problem as much as a scientific one
