The Opportunity
Our client is an established, highly respected national energy decarbonisation and sustainability enterprise undergoing a major commercial evolution.
Operating a high-growth, profit-for-purpose model, the organisation reinvests its net surpluses directly back into driving home energy efficiency, community decarbonisation, and social impact.
Working in direct executive partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board, the Chief Growth Officer will hold total accountability for building and leading a newly integrated commercial engine.
You will transform a bold multi-year vision into fundable, long-term B2B commercial partnerships, innovative energy service propositions, and Tier 1 delivery frameworks across private sector corporate, utility, housing, and public domain markets.
For an ambitious, commercially astute executive, this position carries a succession pathway toward the Chief Executive Officer role over a 2–3 year horizon as part of long-term executive board planning.
The Chief Growth Officer will:
- Commercial Diversification & Pipeline Growth: Design and execute a multi-channel growth strategy; build and convert a robust £20m+ commercial pipeline across B2B energy services, utilities, housing providers, commercial retrofits, and corporate partnerships.
- Proactive Market Creation: Shift the business from a traditional tender respondent to an agile market creator; developing, launching, and scaling new commercial propositions, advisory services, and low-carbon delivery models from 0 to 1.
- Tier 1 Strategic Partnerships: Establish high-level, trusted relationships with fund authorities, energy network operators, housing groups, and corporate partners to secure direct, multi-year delivery programmes.
- Engine & Legacy Building: Unify and lead the business development, bid management, commercial marketing, and data insight functions; building a repeatable, scalable commercial engine that outlasts any individual leader.
- Executive Partnership: Partner with the CEO and Board to shape overall corporate strategy, act as a commercial mentor across the executive peer group, and maintain momentum toward the 3-year strategic growth targets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
