Chief Growth Officer
North Stack | United Kingdom, remote with national travel | Base + Uncapped Commission + Equity
North Stack is appointing a Chief Growth Officer to lead its commercial organisation through the next phase.
The Mission
North Stack's mission is to be the go-to company when enterprises want to understand how new regulations will impact them and build the infrastructure to gather the data. We exist to give regulated firms a single, live view of every obligation they carry. Compliance in these industries is still assembled by hand: consultants emailing the business for figures, returns keyed into spreadsheets, each regulatory line tracked separately and rebuilt from scratch every cycle. We build the AI systems that replace that work, mapping a firm's full regulatory landscape, gathering the evidence automatically against the regulatory calendar, and turning it into something leadership can interrogate rather than something their teams spend the year compiling. Our aim is to make that landscape permanent infrastructure: mapped once, maintained continuously, and trusted well enough that risk, compliance and the board all read from the same picture.
The business has signed enterprise clients and is carrying a pipeline of further enterprise opportunities across its target sectors. Demand is currently ahead of the founders' capacity to convert it. The Chief Growth Officer is being appointed to close that gap, and to build the commercial engine capable of sustaining it.
The Role
Reporting to the founder and director, and working alongside the co-founder, the Chief Growth Officer will assume ownership of revenue and will inherit an established sales function. The mandate is to treble revenue within twelve months and to convert a founder-dependent sales motion into a repeatable, enterprise-grade commercial function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This is an executive appointment. The successful candidate will operate as the third member of the leadership team, with genuine authority over commercial strategy, pricing and go-to-market.
You Will
- Own growth and be accountable for it to the founders, against a target of 3x growth in the first twelve months.
- Systemise the commercial function. Extract the sales process from the founders and build the qualification standards, forecasting discipline and CRM rigour required to scale beyond them.
- Sell personally at senior level. Lead conversations with chief executives, chief operating officers and their risk and technology stakeholders, scoping engagements credibly in discovery.
- Grow existing accounts.
- Own pricing and commercial terms. Take responsibility for pricing strategy, proposal construction, negotiation and contracting.
- Lead the team. Coach and develop the existing sales function, and determine how and when it grows.
- Contribute as an executive. Work with the founders on proposition development, market positioning and company strategy, feeding buyer intelligence back into the business.
You Have
- A proven track record of carrying and delivering a B2B revenue number across considered, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
- Experience leading salespeople, at whatever scale.
- Technical credibility. The ability to hold an architecture-level conversation, assess what is genuinely feasible, scope an AI or software engagement live in a discovery call, and challenge a client's assumptions without a delivery lead present. Writing code is not required. Distinguishing substance from vendor noise is.
- An understanding of regulated environments, governance, risk, procurement and sign-off, sufficient to sell into them credibly. When a head of risk raises an objection, you understand what sits behind it.
- Credibility with senior buyers who are sceptical, short of time and, in many cases, have been sold AI badly before.
- Willingness to travel nationally.

Desirable
- Sector exposure to financial services, legal, healthcare or energy.
- Experience selling consultancy or professional services, where scope is defined rather than fixed.
- Experience in an early-stage business where commercial process had to be built rather than inherited.
- Familiarity with the AI governance landscape, including the EU AI Act, ISO 42001 and DORA, and its effect on enterprise buying decisions.
Remuneration
Base salary of £65,000 to £75,000, with uncapped commission giving on-target earnings of £95,000 to £105,000 and material upside beyond target. Equity is granted in addition, through an EMI option scheme vesting over four years with a one-year cliff.
The package is deliberately weighted towards equity rather than cash, and the base sits below the UK market rate for the title. This is stated openly rather than discovered late: the business is looking for an executive who wants ownership of the outcome. Where salary is the priority, candidates are encouraged to establish that at the outset.
Why This Role
Most AI consultancies are competing for the same unregulated mid-market. North Stack has taken the harder market and established a position in it, with an enterprise client that proves the model and a pipeline to scale it against. The commercial organisation is being built now, and the person appointed will be the one who builds it.
Process
The start date is 1 October, although the business will wait for the right appointment.
There is no application form. Interested candidates should contact Matthew Place directly through LinkedIn, or at matthew@northstack.digital, setting out what they would do in their first ninety days.
