Chief Income Generation and Marketing Officer
37.5 hours per week
Homebased (ad hoc travel within UK)
£125,000 to £135,000 per annum

Our work matters because life matters, until the very end. For over 70 years, our specialist team has been working towards giving everyone the palliative and end-of-life care they deserve. And we're looking for a Chief Income Generation and Marketing Officer to help us get there.
This integral role will bring together fundraising, communications, marketing and external engagement to ensure Sue Ryder strengthens its reach, reputation and financial sustainability through building awareness, deepening engagement and strengthening supporter relationships.
A homebased role with expected travel ad hoc to UK based locations as required.
The Chief Income Generation and Marketing Officer will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, leading the long-term strategic direction of Sue Ryder, driving sustainable growth in fundraising and organisational impact at a national and local level.
You’ll be responsible for…
- Strategic Leadership: Sits on the executive leadership team, shaping the long-term vision of the organisation and translating its goals into actionable development and marketing plans.
- Working closely with executive colleagues to deliver strategy across all areas of the organisation.
- Team Management & Mentorship: Leads and empowers the fundraising, strategy and communications teams, fostering a high-performance, data-driven, and collaborative culture.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensures that all fundraising and marketing activities are compliant with relevant charity regulations, data protection (e.g., GDPR), and ethical best practices.
- Representing all relevant functions at Board level, where required.
Fundraising
- Income Generation & Diversification: Oversees the growth of diverse portfolio of revenue streams, including major gifts, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, legacies, and digital campaigns, with a view to ensure long-term financial stability.
- Develop and lead high-value relationships with funders, donors and strategic partners
- Donor & Stakeholder Relations: Cultivates and stewards’ relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate sponsors, and funding institutions.

Marketing and Communications
- Leadership for Sue Ryder’s external communications, PR and brand, ensuring the organisation speaks with a clear, consistent and influential voice across traditional media, digital channels, stakeholder engagement and public affairs.
- Ensure that storytelling is impactful, consistent, and builds a strong public reputation, closely aligned to fundraising and income generation activity.
- Increase brand recognition, building on a strong, trusted reputation
The ideal candidate would be…
- Able to provide evidence of progressive experience in fundraising, growth of net income, marketing and corporate communications
- Able to provide evidence of leading high profile public relations campaigns and large-scale capital appeals
- Able to provide evidence of leading large scale, national change programmes
- Experienced in budget management
- Experienced in strategic planning
- Experienced in stakeholder management
- Experienced in working in a regulated environment
- Experienced in crisis communications
- Able to provide evidence of digital literacy
Minimum Essential criteria:
- Degree level education or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, public relations, fundraising, business administration or non-profit management.
- Proven history of securing major income, donations, corporate partnerships or grants.
- Knowledge of the healthcare delivery landscape.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience at executive level in a large, complex organisation
