The Role
Oxfam is at an important point in its development and is looking for a Chief Income Officer to help shape what comes next. The Chief Income Officer will need to understand how different parts of Oxfam connect, how audiences move between different forms of engagement and where greater integration can create new opportunities.
Working closely with the CEO, Strategic Leadership Team and Trustees, the postholder will bring a strong income-generation perspective to wider organisational decisions, helping Oxfam make the most of its assets, relationships and expertise. The Chief Income Officer will also be a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, taking collective responsibility for the overall leadership of the whole organisation.
What We Are Looking For
We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam's mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.
An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:
- Senior leadership experience in fundraising or income generation within a large, complex organisation, including membership of a Senior Leadership Team and responsibility for substantial income portfolios and organisational budgets.
- A strong track record of delivering sustained income growth, with evidence of identifying opportunities, making strategic choices and turning potential into results.
- Proven ability to lead multiple income streams and understand how different fundraising disciplines, audiences and channels can work together to increase performance and long-term value.
- A record of leading diverse, multi-disciplinary teams through periods of growth, transformation or organisational change.
- Experience operating as part of a Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organisation-wide strategy and complex organisational decisions.
- Strong experience working with Boards, Trustees and senior stakeholders, providing clear advice, insight and assurance on income performance, opportunities, investment and risk.
- A track record of developing and maintaining influential relationships with senior external stakeholders, partners, donors and other key audiences.
- Experience leading an integrated income function spanning multiple fundraising disciplines and supporter channels, with experience of retail or trading and a track record of connecting audiences and channels to drive growth.
- Deep fundraising and income-generation expertise, with a strategic understanding of supporter behaviour, audience development, brand and reputation, and the wider opportunities and challenges facing the charity sector.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to balance growth, investment, return and long-term sustainability. Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and risk management within a large, complex organisation.
- A strong understanding of and commitment to Oxfam’s mission, including its humanitarian, development and campaigning work with communities and partners around the world.
