We’re Hiring: Founding CMO — RiderTax
RiderTax doesn't need a CMO who knows how to manage a marketing department.
We need the person who can build one of the UK's most recognisable gig-worker brands from zero.
No huge marketing budget.
No 20-person team. No established playbook.
Just an early product, a huge ambition, founders prepared to move fast — and the opportunity for meaningful equity for the right person.
We’re building RiderTax, starting with a simple problem: delivery riders earn through increasingly sophisticated platforms, but managing the financial side of that work — income, expenses, mileage, records and tax — remains fragmented.
Tax is our entry point. The ambition is much bigger.
We want to build financial infrastructure around independent workers.
And we're looking for a Founding CMO capable of helping us turn that vision into a category.
This is not a normal CMO job.
We don't need someone who arrives with a 40-slide marketing strategy and waits for a team to execute it.
We need founder-level ownership, a zero-to-one mentality and a willingness to execute at every level.
One morning you might be shaping our category positioning.
That afternoon you could be talking directly to riders.
The next day you might be testing a referral loop, creating a campaign, working with a distribution partner, analysing conversion data or trying something the rest of the industry thinks is ridiculous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Because some of the world's most recognisable companies weren't built through safe marketing.
They made unconventional, calculated bets that made people pay attention.
That's the mentality we're looking for.
Not recklessness.
Not gimmicks.
Original thinking + relentless experimentation + commercial discipline.
Your mission
Take RiderTax from “What's RiderTax?” to:
“If you're a delivery rider, you know RiderTax.”
You'll own the growth engine from the beginning — positioning, brand, rider acquisition, community, content, referrals, launch strategy, partnerships, lifecycle, retention, experimentation and eventually the team that sits underneath you.
But we're especially interested in how you answer these questions:
- How would you acquire our first 1,000 genuinely engaged riders without burning money?
- How would you turn riders into advocates?
- How would you make something as boring as tax interesting enough to talk about?
- How would you turn partnerships into distribution?
- What would you do that our competitors wouldn't dare try?
Who we're looking for
You might already be a CMO.
You might be a Head of Growth.
You might be an exceptional growth marketer, brand builder or former founder who's never held the CMO title.
We care considerably more about what you've built than what you've been called.
You understand growth.

You understand brand.
You understand distribution.
You understand numbers.
You talk to customers.
You experiment quickly.
You're comfortable being wrong.
And when something fails, you don't immediately say:
“We need more budget.”
You ask:
“Why didn't it work — and what are we testing tomorrow?”
Most importantly, you're comfortable operating without a playbook.
Because at this stage:
Your job isn't to follow the RiderTax growth playbook.
Your job is to help write it.
💥 Equity
We're early, and we're deliberately looking for someone entrepreneurial enough to understand what that means.
For an exceptional candidate capable of materially changing RiderTax's trajectory, meaningful equity may form part of the overall package, alongside compensation structured appropriately for our stage.
We don't want to fill a C-suite title.
We want to find someone who eventually looks back and says:
“I helped build that from the beginning.”
Think you're that person?
Don't send us a generic application telling us you're “passionate about marketing.”
Show us how you think.
Send us your CV/LinkedIn — but also answer one question:
You become Founding CMO of RiderTax tomorrow. You have 90 days and a limited budget. What would you do to make UK delivery riders start talking about us?
It doesn't need to be polished.
It needs to make us think:
“We need to meet this person.”
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
