The role
Our exclusive client is a fast-growing, mission-led organisation in Central London that's outgrown “just needs an EA” and hasn't yet split into five separate ops functions - which is exactly why this role exists. You'll sit close enough to the founder and leadership team to see every decision before it's made, and trusted enough to make plenty of them yourself.
Some days that means untangling a shareholder agreement. Others it's rewriting how the board pack gets built, or quietly fixing a compliance gap before anyone else has noticed it's there. The through-line is judgement: knowing what's actually urgent, what can wait, and what needs to go straight to the founder rather than sitting in your inbox.
This is also a build role, not a maintenance one. The organisation is actively rewiring how it works around AI, and you'll be one of the people deciding what that actually looks like day to day - not just adopting tools someone else picked, but shaping the operating model itself.

What you'll actually be doing
- Running point on the organisation's highest-stakes, most sensitive workstreams - legal, contractual, or otherwise
- Owning the AI adoption agenda: what gets used, how, and by whom
- Driving the annual strategy process and quarterly goal-setting cycle
- Running the full people-ops lifecycle: contracts, leave, performance
- Keeping the organisation legally and regulatorily clean
- Handling financial planning - payroll, expenses, insurance, board reporting
- Building board materials and managing shareholder communications
- Supporting active fundraising work
- Line managing the Operations team
Where you'll be
Central London, 3-5 days/week in the office. This is a get-in-the-room role - it doesn't work well remote.
Who we're looking for
Non-negotiable
- Currently based in the UK, with the right to work here without sponsorship — the in-office schedule makes this a hard requirement, not a preference
- Judgement senior leadership would trust with the organisation's most sensitive situations, on day one
- Writing sharp enough to represent the founder without editing
- A genuine generalist - equally comfortable in a contract, a board deck, or a difficult conversation
- The nerve to tell senior leadership they're wrong, and the tact to make it land
- Real, hands-on fluency with AI tools - you use them to think faster, not just to sound current

Signal, not a requirement
- Chief of Staff, senior BizOps, or in-house generalist experience at a scaling organisation (roughly 20-150 people)
- A consulting background you've since taken in-house
- Experience owning a governance or compliance process end to end
£60,000–£80,000, depending on experience
Central London, hybrid (3-5 days/week in office)
