Head of Private Office
We're looking for a Head of Private Office for a central government department, based across a choice of UK locations (hybrid), on an initial 6 month contract running until March 2027, paying up to £550 per day (Inside IR35, Umbrella).
There's an expectation to attend the office 2 to 3 days a week.
Role Overview
The successful Head of Private Office will act as the strategic engine and trusted adviser to a Director, keeping their priorities moving and safeguarding the directorate's delivery. You'll provide independent advice, test thinking before it reaches ExCo or the Board, and represent the Director in meetings and decisions in their absence. You'll also join up work across the wider organisation, act as the final quality gate on submissions, and make sure operations, finance and governance run to a high standard.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
