About Possability People
Possability People is a user-led pan-impairment disability charity based in Brighton & Hove and working across Sussex. For more than 40 years, we’ve worked alongside disabled people to remove barriers, provide practical support and help people have choice and control over their lives.
We have a strong local identity, committed staff and volunteers, and a wealth of experience across the organisation.
About the role
We’re now looking for an experienced and values-led Chief Officer to help shape our next chapter.
This is an important time for PP. We have a strong foundation, committed staff and volunteers, and a clear purpose as a user-led disability organisation. We are looking for a leader who can build on what is already here while bringing the strategic direction, financial focus and momentum needed for the future.
As Chief Officer, you will work closely with our Trustee Board and Senior Leadership Team to shape and deliver our next three-year strategy. You will have overall responsibility for organisational leadership, financial sustainability, service quality, people and culture, and our external profile and relationships.

You’ll:
- Work with Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team to establish a clear, realistic strategy and delivery plan.
- Strengthen PP’s financial resilience, developing sustainable income and making informed decisions about resources and priorities.
- Build trust, cohesion and confidence across our staff and volunteer teams through visible, open and collaborative leadership.
- Protect the quality and sustainability of our services while being prepared to make difficult decisions when needed.
- Raise PP’s profile, reach and influence across Brighton & Hove, Sussex and beyond.
- Build strong relationships with communities, commissioners, funders, the NHS, local authorities, employers and voluntary-sector partners.
- Work closely with the Chair and Trustee Board to support strong governance, accountability and decision-making.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced senior leader who can combine strategic thinking with practical leadership.
You’ll understand financial sustainability and how charities are funded, and have experience of developing income, managing resources and making sound organisational decisions. You’ll be confident developing strategy, leading through change and building trust across an organisation.

You’ll also be an engaging external representative who can build relationships, open doors and tell a compelling story about PP’s work and impact.

Salary
£55,000
Full-time
35 hours per week
Location
Brighton, with flexible and home working and an expectation of approximately 50% office-based working
Annual leave
28 days plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days plus bank holidays after 5 years
