Our client is a venture-backed technology company building intelligent automation platforms that combine robotics, AI, advanced software and precision engineering.
Following significant international investment, the business is entering an exciting growth phase, expanding both its engineering capability and global footprint. They are seeking a senior technical leader to define the software architecture underpinning their next generation of connected autonomous systems.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll define the architecture that connects embedded software, hardware and cloud infrastructure across a fleet of intelligent electromechanical systems.

This is a genuine greenfield architecture role where you'll establish technical standards, influence engineering strategy and help scale a modern software platform supporting sophisticated autonomous hardware.
You'll work closely with embedded, software, electronics, AI and mechanical engineering teams to ensure systems remain scalable, maintainable and reliable as the company grows internationally.
Responsibilities
- Define the software architecture across embedded, edge and cloud systems.
- Create robust abstraction layers between hardware and application software.
- Design scalable communication frameworks between distributed devices.
- Lead architecture reviews and establish engineering standards.
- Drive software quality, CI/CD, testing and deployment strategies.
- Support simulation, validation and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Mentor senior engineers and influence long-term technical direction.
- Collaborate across software, electronics, mechanical engineering and AI teams.

Experience
- 10+ years developing embedded C/C++ systems.
- Strong systems architecture experience.
- Background in robotics, automation, aerospace, automotive or industrial technology.
- Experience with distributed systems, messaging frameworks and cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of ROS2 or comparable robotics middleware.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
