The Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO)

The Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO) is a pivotal Executive Leadership Team appointment, leading the transformation of CLA from a traditional licensing organisation into a product-led, digitally enabled business. CLA is a highly respected organisation with a 40-year heritage of supporting authors, publishers and visual artists through collective licensing. Today, it represents more than 17 million publications, generates over £113m in annual revenue, and operates at the centre of the evolving relationship between content, copyright and artificial intelligence. Having recently launched the world's first voluntary collective licence for generative AI, CLA is entering an exciting new phase of growth through digital commerce, platform innovation and technology-enabled services.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, the CPTO will provide strategic leadership across product, technology, data, digital delivery and transformation. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will shape CLA's technology and product strategy from first principles, modernise our digital capability and create the foundations for future commercial success.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
