Chief Revenue Officer

General Description:
The Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) is responsible for leading Modini's revenue growth strategy and all revenue-generating activities, including business development, sales, marketing, strategic partnerships, customer engagement, and bid management. The role will ensure Modini's products, systems, and engineering capabilities are positioned, promoted, and sold in a way that supports profitable growth, customer confidence, and long-term enterprise value.
This is a pivotal role in Modini's transition from an R&D-led organisation developing innovative technologies to a product-led business delivering mature, scalable, and commercially successful products across defence, security, aerospace, and export markets. The CRO will create and lead the growth systems, customer relationships, market strategies, and commercial processes required to convert technical capability into sustainable revenue and repeatable market success. There will be a requirement to show experience in closing contracts, overseeing, and understanding the commercial, legal, and financial elements for a bid-winning strategy.
The Chief Revenue Officer is a member of Modini's Management Team and reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Modini's growth and revenue strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, product maturity, and shareholder expectations.
- Lead business development, sales, marketing, and customer acquisition activity across defence, security, aerospace, and export markets.
- Build senior customer, prime contractor, government, and partner relationships to strengthen Modini's market position and support repeatable growth.
- Own the opportunity pipeline, including qualification, capture planning, forecasting, bid governance, and reporting to the Management Team.
- Lead major pursuits, bids, and tender submissions, ensuring opportunities are aligned with company strategy and delivery capability.
- Develop go-to-market strategies for products, systems, and engineering services, including route-to-market partnerships and channel development.
- Identify and secure strategic partnerships, international collaborations, and new market opportunities.
- Work closely with engineering, production, finance, and programme teams to ensure customer commitments are realistic, profitable, and deliverable.
- Oversee pricing, revenue models, sales forecasting, and commercial performance management.
- Establish and maintain CRM, pipeline reporting, and revenue operations processes.
- Provide regular reporting on revenue performance, pipeline health, market opportunities, and growth risks.
- Represent Modini with customers, investors, government stakeholders, defence primes, and industry partners.
- Support corporate strategy, investment activity, and future growth initiatives.

Essential Requirements:
- Proven executive leadership experience in revenue growth, business development, sales, or commercial management.
- Demonstrable success delivering significant revenue growth in defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing, or technology sectors.
- Experience in start-up and/or scale-up business development activities.
- Strong understanding of sales strategy, pipeline management, capture management, bid processes, and customer relationship management.
- Proven ability to build and maintain executive-level customer and partner relationships.
- Experience managing complex opportunities involving technical, operational, commercial, and contractual considerations.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including forecasting, pricing, and revenue planning.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership capability with experience developing high-performing teams.
- Effective use of Microsoft Office Software Suite and CRM systems.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate UK Security Vetting.
Desirable Attributes:
- Strong understanding of UK and international defence, aerospace, autonomous systems, and security sectors.
- Experience commercialising technology products and scaling growth-stage businesses.
- Experience developing strategic partnerships, export opportunities, and international market channels.
- Knowledge of defence procurement processes, prime contractor ecosystems, export control, and security requirements.
- Knowledge of corporate bid governance principles and application in an SME environment.
- MBA or equivalent executive qualification; full UK driving licence.
