BIOSH regularly reviews and updates its guidelines to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
Role Description
The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is a full-time, on-site role located in Westbury. The CRO will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of BIOSH’s enterprise-wide risk management framework, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory standards. This role involves identifying, assessing, and monitoring financial and non-financial risks, including credit and market risks, and providing regular risk reporting to senior leadership and the board. The CRO will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop risk policies, controls, and mitigation strategies, and will guide the integration of risk considerations into strategic planning and operational decision-making. The role also includes mentoring risk team members, fostering a strong risk-aware culture, and representing BIOSH in discussions with external stakeholders and regulators.

Qualifications

- Strong Enterprise Risk Management skills, including risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting.
- Expertise in Credit Risk Management and Market Risk, with experience designing and overseeing risk models and controls.
- Solid Finance knowledge, including understanding of financial statements, capital allocation, and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced Analytical Skills, including quantitative analysis, scenario modeling, and data-driven decision-making.
- Proven experience in a senior risk leadership role, ideally within a regulated or membership-based organization.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex risk concepts clearly and concisely.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, or equivalent) and a degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field are highly beneficial.
- Strong understanding of health and safety risk considerations and familiarity with UK regulatory and compliance frameworks is an advantage.
