About GeneQuanta
GeneQuanta is developing a proprietary epigenetic biomarker platform designed to identify functionally active regulatory regions. We are seeking an experienced scientific leader excited by the opportunity to build - from shaping the first product to establishing the scientific organisation behind it.
The role
As Chief Scientific Officer, you will work closely with the CEO and Founding Scientist to translate our early scientific platform into a reproducible, clinically defensible and commercially valuable product.
This is a hands-on, outward-facing role for someone who enjoys the earliest stage of company formation. Initially, the work can be performed largely remotely and flexibly. As GeneQuanta raises funding and develops laboratory operations, the role is expected to grow into a full-time executive appointment.
Key responsibilities
- Define the lead product, intended use and target product profile.
- Translate the founding science into a focused, stage-gated development plan.
- Lead assay standardisation, analytical validation and biomarker development.
- Design the clinical-validation strategy, including external cohorts and biobank partnerships.
- Establish appropriate data, quality and regulatory foundations.
- Build and eventually lead an integrated laboratory, computational and translational team.
- Represent the company to investors, clinicians, regulators and pharmaceutical partners.
- Support fundraising, scientific diligence, partnerships and intellectual-property development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Familiarity with quality systems, IVD development or regulatory engagement.
- The ability to communicate credibly with scientists, investors, clinicians and commercial partners.

The person we are looking for
We are looking for a builder rather than a conventional corporate executive: someone comfortable with ambiguity, constrained resources and rapidly evolving priorities. You should be scientifically rigorous, commercially aware and willing to work hands-on while the platform, product and team are being established.
Why join
This is an opportunity to help shape the scientific direction, first product and organisational foundations of an ambitious biotechnology company. The engagement will begin flexibly during the pre-funding stage, with the potential to develop into a fully resourced executive role as the company grows.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send your CV and a short (one-page max) note describing:
- A scientific platform, assay or biomarker programme you helped translate beyond discovery.
- Your role in building the product, team or company around it.
- Why an early-stage opportunity at GeneQuanta interests you.
