Role Overview
Are you a seasoned technical expert in synthetic therapeutics looking to shape the future of a leading organisation?
A leading company in the industry is seeking a Chief Technologist – Synthetic Therapeutics to join their Glasgow facility, initially on a 20-month fixed-term contract (but with a possibility of it becoming a permanent role).
This newly created role offers the unique chance to build and lead a cutting-edge capability in peptides, oligonucleotides, and oligo conjugation.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Your duties as the Chief Technologist – Synthetic Therapeutics will be varied, however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Act as the technical expert in peptide and oligonucleotide chemistry, including synthesis, modification, and conjugation.
- Shape the future technology strategy by identifying capability gaps, market trends, and unmet industry needs.
- Translate technical insights into commercially viable propositions and deliverable plans.
- Build and influence an external network of stakeholders, representing the company in industrial and academic forums.

Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Chief Technologist – Synthetic Therapeutics we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- Proven experience of strategic technical leadership and market awareness within the field.
- Extensive industry experience in synthetic therapeutics, particularly in peptides and/or oligonucleotides.
- Proven ability to translate scientific expertise into commercially relevant capabilities.
This role is not just about technical delivery; it’s about becoming the go-to authority in synthetic therapeutics, shaping a new offering, and establishing credibility in the UK market. You will have the opportunity to build internal skills, develop the team, and create a strong external network.
The role is initially a fixed-term contract for around 20 months, with the potential to become permanent based on performance and business needs.
