Founded by Liz Hunter, nuala is building solutions that support fair, data-driven career progression and compensation. The team is preparing for a pre-seed funding round in Spring 2027, offering an opportunity to join at an early, high-impact stage. nuala is developing its platform and community and welcomes individuals who want to shape the future of equitable workplaces where women can thrive.
Role Description
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will lead nuala’s end-to-end technology vision, strategy, and execution in a full-time on-site role based in London. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing software development, defining technical architecture, and guiding product development to align with business goals and compliance requirements. The CTO will collaborate closely with the founding team to translate nuala’s mission into scalable, secure, and reliable technology solutions. This role involves building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team, establishing best practices, and managing technology projects from concept through delivery. The CTO will also evaluate emerging technologies, ensure robust data governance, and contribute to fundraising and investor discussions from a technical perspective.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Software Development and Product Development, including building scalable, cloud-based platforms.
- Strong background in IT Strategy and Architecture, with the ability to design secure, compliant, and robust systems.
- Proven Project Management skills, with experience leading cross-functional technology initiatives from planning to launch.
- Experience leading and growing technical teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Familiarity with HR tech, fintech, or data-driven SaaS products, ideally in early-stage startup environments.
- Knowledge of information security, data protection, and compliance standards relevant to UK and EU markets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with founders, investors, and non-technical partners.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
