The company
Our client is a fast-growing AI for Finance company building agentic AI products for banks and private equity firms. Its platform automates the high-value, analyst-heavy work behind deals, investment decisions and client coverage.
The business is backed by one of Europe's leading venture capital firms and is scaling quickly across London, Europe and the US. It sells to some of the most demanding buyers in financial services, and its team combines senior finance practitioners with top-tier AI engineers.

The role
The CTO owns the company's technology, AI and engineering organisation. You will set the technical vision for an agentic AI platform trusted by leading banks and PE firms, and build the team and systems to scale it globally.
This is a hands-on executive role. You will stay close to the architecture and the models while leading a growing engineering organisation through the company's next stage of growth.

Key responsibilities
Technical vision and AI
- Set the technology and AI strategy, including model selection, agent architecture, retrieval and evaluation
- Own platform architecture for reliability, scale and speed as the customer base grows across regions
- Keep the company at the frontier of LLM and agentic AI, turning research advances into product advantage

Security and enterprise readiness
- Meet the security, data privacy and compliance standards of tier 1 banks and PE firms, including SOC 2, ISO 27001 and client security reviews
- Support deployment models regulated clients require, such as private cloud and on-premise options
- Lead technical conversations with client CTOs, CISOs and procurement teams
Team and execution
- Hire, lead and scale a world-class engineering, ML and forward deployed engineering organisation
- Build an engineering culture of high standards, speed and ownership
- Set delivery processes, roadmaps and engineering metrics with Product
Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and executive team on company strategy, fundraising and board reporting
- Represent the company's technology to investors, clients and the wider market
About you
Essential
- 12+ years in software engineering, including senior leadership at a tier 1 technology company, AI lab or high-growth venture-backed scale-up
- Proven record of scaling an engineering organisation and platform through rapid growth, ideally from Series A/B onwards
- Deep, hands-on expertise in modern AI systems: LLMs, agents, retrieval, evaluation and MLOps
- Strong architecture background across cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure), data platforms and distributed systems
- Experience selling to and securing enterprise clients in regulated industries
- Top academic record in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar from a leading university
- Executive presence with boards, investors and client C-suites

A real bonus
- Experience in financial services technology, particularly banking, capital markets or private equity
- Founder, co-founder or early-stage CTO experience
- A PhD or published research in machine learning
