Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Location: London
Salary: Competitive
The Opportunity
Technology is central to how Tantrum identifies opportunities, creates value and scales businesses. We are seeking an innovative and commercially minded Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to shape and execute the Group's technology strategy across Tantrum and its portfolio companies.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for developing a technology vision that supports our investment strategy, enhances operational excellence and creates long-term competitive advantage.
This is a unique opportunity to lead technology across a global investment platform operating in private equity, transaction advisory and asset management. Working closely with senior leadership, investment professionals and portfolio company executives, you will ensure that technology becomes a key enabler of growth, value creation and operational efficiency.
Beyond leading Tantrum's internal technology function, you will partner with investment teams throughout the investment lifecycle, assessing technology capabilities, identifying risks and opportunities, supporting acquisitions and helping portfolio companies unlock value through digital transformation.
Your Responsibilities
As Chief Technology Officer, you will develop and execute the Group's technology strategy, ensuring that technology investments support both Tantrum's strategic objectives and the long-term success of its portfolio companies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute the Group-wide technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and long-term growth plans.
- Lead technology strategy across Tantrum and its portfolio companies, helping create sustainable competitive advantage through technology-enabled value creation.
- Lead the company's AI, automation and emerging technology strategy, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, enhance investment decision-making and strengthen competitive positioning.
- Drive enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives, modernising systems, processes and operating models across the organisation.
- Oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise applications and technology operations, ensuring resilience, scalability and performance.
- Develop and maintain robust cybersecurity, technology risk management and governance frameworks to protect the organisation and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead the Group's data strategy, including data governance, business intelligence and analytics capabilities that support informed decision-making.
- Partner with investment teams during acquisitions to assess technology capability, technology risk, scalability and digital value creation opportunities throughout the due diligence process.
- Support post-acquisition technology integration, transformation and value creation initiatives across portfolio companies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and market trends, advising the Executive Leadership Team on strategic opportunities and technology investments.
- Build and lead high-performing technology teams while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors, implementation partners and external advisers.
- Ensure technology budgets, investments and resources deliver measurable business value and support the organisation's strategic priorities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
