£113,565 to £150,569 per annum
Enhanced Recruitment & Retention Package of up to £45,000
Permanent | Full time (10 PAs plus on-call)

Help shape the future of Tier 4 inpatient CAMHS in Sussex. Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our 12-bed Children and Young People's Inpatient Mental Health Unit in Haywards Heath. This is a rare opportunity to join a service at an exciting point in its development. As we continue to strengthen and redesign our inpatient pathway, you'll have the opportunity to influence how care is delivered, shape service improvements and contribute to the future direction of specialist CAMHS inpatient services across Sussex.
Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you'll provide clinical leadership for young people with complex mental health needs while helping to drive innovation, quality improvement and service development.
Recruitment & Retention Package
We are offering an enhanced Recruitment & Retention Premium of up to £45,000 over three years (pro rata for part-time appointments):
- £15,000 on appointment
- £10,000 after 12 months
- £10,000 after 24 months
- £10,000 after 36 months
Relocation support may also be available where applicable.
The opportunity
Based at Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, you'll provide senior clinical leadership within our specialist inpatient CAMHS service for young people aged 13 to 18 years.

You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, supporting young people with complex presentations while working closely with families, community services and partner organisations to ensure joined-up and effective care.
We are open to flexible and bespoke job planning arrangements, including exploring a shared post model with our COAST CAMHS Acute Service where appropriate.

What you'll be doing
- Providing clinical leadership within a specialist Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient service
- Leading formulation, risk assessment and treatment planning for young people with complex needs
- Working collaboratively with families, community teams and partner agencies
- Supervising junior doctors and contributing to workforce development
- Participating in teaching, audit, quality improvement and service development activity
- Supporting the ongoing development of inpatient CAMHS pathways across Sussex
- Participating in the CAMHS Consultant on-call rota (currently 1:9)
About you
We're looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry who is passionate about delivering high-quality inpatient care and supporting positive outcomes for young people and their families.

You will hold MRCPsych (or equivalent), be included on, or within six months of joining, the GMC Specialist Register and be eligible for Approved Clinician status. You'll also bring strong clinical leadership skills, a collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous service improvement.
