About the Role

The Children and Young People’s (CYPS) Directorate in Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join the well-established multi-disciplinary NEH CYPS Community Team. You will be based in Aldershot with an expectation to travel to Leatherhead or other bases if needed.

This post will be suitable for a highly motivated Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist interested in ensuring excellent psychological care is accessible for children and young people with complex mental health needs from diverse backgrounds. This is a permanent full time (37.5 hours) post. Applications are invited from Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists and to those currently in training who expect to become registered in 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering specialist interventions for children and young people experiencing complex, chronic and/or severe mental health difficulties.
• Provide evidence-based psychotherapy interventions.
• Contribute to service-development through service-evaluation and audit, taking into consideration service-user participation.
• Provide specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapy, parent/child psychotherapy, short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy, state of mind assessments, psychoanalytic parent work and psychoanalytical consultations.
• Supervise and teach trainees and colleagues within the service.
• Provide advice and consultation to schools and other organisations as required.
• Lead therapeutic groups for parents and children.
• Work autonomously within ACP guidelines and trust policies.
• Develop audit and research activities and to propose and implement policy changes within the area served by the team.
