About the Role
The post is a nursing role within Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) Chailey Clinical Services (CCS), working in close partnership with Chailey Heritage Foundation (CHF), providing nursing support to children & young people and their families. You will deliver skilled nursing care according to the NMC code of conduct and be actively involved in practice development. You will ensure that all the young people receive health care, promoting a valued lifestyle, supporting independence, where possible. You will help to ensure that policy and practice is developed and delivered in line with Trust and national best practice standards.
The post holder will have a key role in delivering specialist nursing care to the children & young people accessing Chailey Heritage Foundation School or Bluebells Short Breaks service both on a daily and residential basis and provide up-to-date knowledge and skills for the nursing management of these children & young people with complex health needs and physical disability.
Responsibilities
- To deliver evidence-based, skilled nursing care according to the individual child or young person’s health needs.
- To ensure all children & young people receive nursing care promoting a valued lifestyle and independence.
- To carry out effective medication management, including stock checking, ordering, receiving medication into school and returning medication home, preparation, and administration.
- To deliver direct personal and intimate care to children & young people.
- To provide education, training, and support to non-registered and registered professionals, including student nurses and medical students.
- To be able to work rota’s shift patterns, manage time effectively, adjusting and re-prioritising, as required, using considerable mental effort on a daily basis.
- To be able to respond to stressful situations and demonstrate negotiation skills in the management of conflict across a range of situations.
- To support nursing staff in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for children & young people with complex health needs and their families, based on research and evidence of good practice.
- To respect each child & young person’s and their family’s right to confidentiality.
