Overview

Change Grow Live are a charity dedicated to the belief that we can make a difference to our Service Users lives. Our core values are ‘Be open, be compassionate and be bold’ and our teams apply these daily offering support and respect in a safe environment, treating each user as an individual and working with them to find the right treatment and care options.

An exciting vacancy has arisen to join the dynamic and innovative Young People’s team at Stockton Recovery Service in the role of Children and Families Worker.

The primary focus of this role is to work with children and young people who are impacted by a family member’s substance misuse by delivering a programme of brief interventions via one to one sessions with the aim of building resilience and minimising the impact of parental substance misuse. The role includes developing and delivering group work packages, providing brief support and advice to parents, carers and partner agencies as well as delivering specialist training to professionals.

Where: Stockton-On-Tees
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 per week

Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the role:

  • You will work directly with children, young people and families affected by substance misuse, adversity and wider vulnerabilities, delivering trauma-informed and whole-family support that genuinely makes a difference.
  • You will build trusted relationships with young people and families, helping them navigate challenges, access support and move towards safer, healthier and more hopeful futures.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with schools, social care, healthcare professionals and wider partner agencies to ensure young people receive the right support at the right time.
  • This is a role for someone who is compassionate but resilient. Someone who can remain curious, calm and hopeful even when situations are complex.

About you:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Believes in the potential of children, young people and families
  • Builds trust through empathy, authenticity and consistency
  • Understands the impact of trauma, safeguarding and hidden harm
  • Is confident working within complex multi-agency environments
  • Can balance compassion with professional curiosity and clear boundaries
  • Wants to be part of a service that is ambitious, reflective and continuously evolving

Experience working within family support, safeguarding, substance misuse, youth work, emotional wellbeing or related services would be highly beneficial.
