Role Description
The Children’s Home Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operational management of a residential children’s home in Poole. This full-time, on-site role includes:
- Overseeing the quality of care
- Ensuring that safeguarding procedures are followed
- Maintaining a safe, supportive environment for children and young people

The manager leads and supervises a multidisciplinary staff team, manages rotas, conducts supervision and appraisals, and supports staff development. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing budgets and resources, and maintaining accurate records and reports. The manager liaises with families, social workers, and other professionals, contributes to care planning, and promotes a therapeutic culture that prioritizes the needs and rights of children.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities, including record-keeping, reporting, and effective resource and rota management.
- Experience in residential childcare or social care settings, with a clear understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, families, staff, and external professionals.
- Ability to support a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach and promote a positive, inclusive, and child-centered culture.
- Relevant qualifications as required within regulation 28 of the quality standards for children’s homes regarding residential childcare, or management (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to work toward this).
- Ability to work on-site full-time in Poole, with flexibility to respond to the needs of the home, including occasional evenings, weekends, or emergencies.
