Acorns Children's Hospice Children's Palliative Clinical Lead
Acorns Children's Hospice are looking for a Children's Palliative Clinical Lead to join the team in our Hospice in Birmingham. As Clinical Lead, you will manage a multi-disciplinary team, develop programmes of care and provide nursing care to children and young people with a range of complex health needs, life limiting or life-threatening conditions.

At Acorns Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care for children, and young people with life-limiting and life‑threatening conditions, and we support their families through every step of their journey, and through transition. As Children’s Palliative Clinical Lead, you will:
- Manage and be responsible for the supervision and development of a large multi-disciplinary team consisting of all grades of nursing staff, students and support workers
- Manage and co-ordinate the clinical area, participating in direct patient care and supervision of staff.
- Demonstrate expertise in symptom management and end of life care including after death care, to support staff to develop skills
- Participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives and contribute to the advancement of clinical practice within the hospice
- Promote communication with the children and young people, encouraging them to express their wishes and concerns to their best ability (this may include non-verbal, electronic or alternative communication methods)

About You
- Registered Nurse
- Non-medical prescriber (or willing to undertake)
- Leadership experience
- Experience of palliative care
- Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical skills to include IV therapy, patient assessment skills, airway management and to develop further skills as required.

Interviews
Interviews are scheduled to be held on 23 September
You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and will be asked to provide two satisfactory references. In addition, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of immunisation against specific diseases or confirm their willingness to receive the necessary vaccinations.
